• Jacksonville Community Council Inc. plans to release the annual “Quality of Life Progress Report” at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 18 at the Main Library Downtown. It will be the 26th edition of the nation’s longest-running community indicators report. For more information, call 396-3052 or visit www.jcci.org.

• The 31st Annual Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament is scheduled July 18-23. Junior Anglers will fish on July 19. The new “Red Fish Tournament” is July 20 and the general AT&T Greater Jacksonville Kingfish tournament fishing is July 21-22. For more information, call 251-3011 or visit www.kingfishtournament.com. The early registration fee is $275.

• Leadership Jacksonville reminds folks that nominations for its Class of 2012 are due Jan. 7.

• Also Jan. 7, Friday Musicale presents pianist Leslie Amper as part of its 121st Concert Season at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Friday Musicale Auditorium at 645 Oak St. in Riverside. Both concerts are free and open to the public. The performance will include music by Florence Price, Gabriel Faure, Claude Debussy, Ludwig van Beethoven and others.

• Advanced Disposal Services Inc. announced Morris Logan as “2010 Corporate Employee of the Year.” Logan is shop supervisor at the company’s St. Johns County location and has been with Advanced Disposal since 2004. Logan oversees Advanced Disposal’s residential and commercial maintenance operations in St. Johns County.

• Stanton College Preparatory School’s Aliza Goldstein, alumnus of International Thespian Society troupe 3929, the Educational Theatre Association’s student honorary division, is a winner of Young Playwrights Inc.’s National Playwriting Competition and will attend the Young Playwrights Conference Jan. 5-13 in New York City. Winners receive an all-expenses paid trip for the conference, where they will prepare their plays for off-Broadway readings. They will also participate in workshops and seminars with professional playwrights.

• The Bank of America Charitable Foundation seeks applications for its national Student Leaders program, which will include five high school juniors or seniors in each of the 45 participating communities. They are selected for their commitment to and demonstration of community service and leadership. Applications are due Jan. 12 and can be submitted online at www.bankofamerica.com/neistudentleaders. Each student is asked to include a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or principal. The chosen students will participate in paid eight-week summer internships at local nonprofit organizations and will travel to Washington, D.C., to attend the Bank of America Student Leadership Summit.
