• A couple of notes from Peyton’s budget presentation Wednesday. Of the 19 City Council members, only three – Glorious Johnson, Kevin Hyde and Warren Jones – weren’t in attendance. Peyton’s presentation clocked in at 35 minutes.

• City Council Vice President Stephen Joost might not attend the River Community Conversation organized by Council President Jack Webb at 3 p.m. today. Joost is chief financial officer for Firehouse Subs and the company’s annual board meeting is today.

• The Downtown Operations meeting originally scheduled for today has been rescheduled to 9:30 a.m. Aug. 3 at the Main Library, room G4. The quarterly meeting includes an update on Downtown and the opportunity to discuss cleanliness, safety or other concerns. To attend, RSVP to Downtown Vision’s Director of District Services Amy Harrell at 634-0303, ext. 224.

• The United Way of Northeast Florida board of trustees elected its 2010-11 leaders. Michael Cascone was re-elected chair of the board of trustees. Other re-elections include Chris Doerr as board of trustees treasurer and Michael Korn as Community Impact Council chair. Arie “Chip” Vance was elected as board of directors chair; Scott Brubaker as 2010 campaign chair; Terry West as 2011 campaign chair; Mike Prendergast as resource management chair; and Laurie Price as the United Way Agency Directors Association representative.
