• Cornerstone’s Jaguars Kickoff luncheon is scheduled Sept. 7 at the Osborn Center. The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Cornerstone Economic Development Partnership hosts the annual event, featuring Jaguars owners Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver, the team, coaching staff and Roar cheerleaders. • Though the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding, Jacksonville International Airport is gaining additional security. New screening machines with “Millimeter Wave Advanced Image Technology” allow full-body, non-contact screens that can detect potentially threatening objects, weapons and explosives, even under clothing.

• Teri Coutu is the new director of the weekly Riverside Arts Market. She will be responsible for all aspects of RAM and replaces interim director and market founder Dr. Wayne Wood. Tony Allegretti was director from RAM’s start in spring 2009 through May.

• The Jim Moran Foundation awarded a three-year grant to the Sanctuary on 8th Street to support the Springfield nonprofit’s After School Academic program. The Sanctuary will receive $22,000 a year through 2012.

• Guy Selander Jr. opened the Selander & Associates CPA firm at 4209 Baymeadows Road. It will specialize in tax and accounting, small business consulting and off-site CFO services, as well as fraud examinations and financial and estate planning. Jane Scofield is manager and CFO and Amy Bridgham joined as a staff accountant.

• The City has lowered parking rates at the Water Street Garage for all new and current customers. New rates are $50 per month for unreserved monthly parking and $90 for a reserved space. Downtown businesses arranging parking for more than 100 spaces are eligible for a 10 percent discount.
