• Road Ranger emergency assistance services in the Jacksonville area have expanded into Baker, Nassau and St. Johns counties through a sponsorship from the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization, which is providing $500,000 a year for the next three years to operate the Road Rangers. The rangers offer free highway assistance to reduce delays and improve safety for motorists and responders. They previously operated only in Duval County.
• Whether for business or pleasure, people are flying a little more, according to recent Jacksonville International Airport numbers. The number of passengers traveling through JIA jumped 8.6 percent in June, which is the first monthly year-over-year increase in eight months. Just under 542,000 passengers boarded and deplaned in June, compared to just more than 499,000 last June.
