Watson Realty agent Gwen Templeton provided a highlight of the February meeting of the Sales and Marketing Council with her impression of the late Broadway star Ethel Merman singing “There’s No Business Like Show Business” with new words and a new title: “There’s No Business Like the New Home Business.”
Here’s her version:
There’s no business like the new home business
Like no business
I know.
Everything about it
is appealing.
It’s everything the traffic will allow.
Nowhere could you get that happy feeling,
From selling that extra wow.
There are no people like our
sales people,
They smile when they are low!
Yesterday they told you cannot go far.
The model opens and there you are.
Now they say you are a superstar,
Let’s go on with the show!
The home sites, the floor plans, the upgrades, the codes,
The subs that leave early when you’re gone.
The headaches, the heartaches, the
backaches, the woes,
The big list of changes that grows and grows.
The walk through when your heart
beats like a drum...
The closing when the customers
don’t come...
There’s no business like the new home business,
Like no business I know.
You just got a call there’s a
hurricane on the way,
And the buyers parked their moving truck on
the lawn,
The home is
finished and the bank wants its pay,
You get down on your knees and begin to pray.
There are no people like our sales people,
They smile when they
are low!
Even with a deal that they know is gonna fold,
And we’ll all be stranded out in the cold,
We wouldn’t trade it for a sack of gold.
Let’s go on with the sales!
Let’s go on with the sales!
