• Jacksonville Economic Development Commission Executive Director Ron Barton is the speaker at next month’s Jacksonville Community Council Inc. Forward meeting. It’s at noon April 15 at the JCCI offices along Atlantic Boulevard. Barton will talk about jobs, investment and Downtown development.
• The current reporting period for candidates for offices ends today. Those reports are due to the Supervisor of Elections Office by April 12. If they are late, the candidates face a $50 a day fine and those fines must be paid through personal funds, not campaign funds.
• Effective April 5, Moody Chisholm takes over as president and CEO of St. Vincent’s HealthCare. The hospital’s foundation will officially welcome him at an April 21 breakfast hosted by St. Vincent’s HealthCare Board Chair Pat Thornton and Foundation Board Chair Rick Mullaney.
• Legal Art Works is on the move. President and CEO Jeff Davis said he’s moving the business from Bay Street on the Northbank to 1454 Prudential Drive, near Hendricks Avenue, on the Southbank. The building will be ready for business May 1. “I plan to transform the look of that corner over the next five weeks,” he said.
• Correction to last week’s story about Chief Mike Williams of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Williams was in the Air Force, but did not attend the Air Force Academy.
• The Jaguars extended the deadline for fans to purchase the 30/30 season ticket plan. The original deadline was today, but has been extended to May 31. The 30/30 plan is a new season ticket plan that allows fans to lock in their tickets at 2010 prices for the next three years and to spread payments for 30 games, interest-free and with no deposit, over 30 consecutive months.
• The University of North Florida and the City of Atlantic Beach will present “Shakespeare in the Park.” UNF English Professor Pam Monteleone will direct the production of “The Taming of the Shrew,” which is cast with UNF students and members of the community. The outdoor performances at UNF are at 8 p.m. April 10-11 at the University Green, weather permitting. Atlantic Beach performances will be in Johansen Park (off Seminole Road) at 8 p.m. April 16-17, with live music beginning at 7:15 p.m. (UNF also plans indoor performances April 9, 14 and 15.) • News from Winn-Dixie. The supermarket chain said its Fuelperks gas discounts can grow to 20 cents a gallon when customers buy selected items in Jacksonville and Panama City stores. The points are redeemed at participating gas stations. Also, the company opened its redesigned SaveRite store along Firestone Road at 103rd Street.
• Attorney Jennifer Mansfield, a partner with Holland & Knight, has been nominated by the Mayor’s Office to serve on the Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission. If appointed, Mansfield will replace attorney Mitch Weiss.
• Christopher J. Mueller joined the law firm of Taylor, Day, Currie, Boyd & Johnson. His areas of practice include construction law, general negligence and medical malpractice.
• Jacksonville’s second Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches should open soon along Hendricks Avenue in San Marco.
