• Stratford Land, a Dallas-based land investment management company, opened a Jacksonville office along Gate Parkway North and named Ryland Lucie to lead the office. Stratford Land intends to purchase and lend on properties throughout Florida. As director of investments for Florida, Lucie is responsible for land acquisitions and also represents Stratford Land’s lending division.

• Teams from 22 law schools across the country met at Naval Air Station Jacksonville last weekend to compete in the Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps second annual National Moot Court Competition. After eight rounds of oral arguments in front of panels of sitting military and guest judges, the University of Michigan claimed the title of Best Team with the University of Florida Levin College of Law coming in a close second. The judges found Stetson University had the best brief with Michigan as the runner-up. David Evans from the University of Florida was honored as the best individual advocate.

• Gov. Charlie Crist re-appointed Isaiah Rumlin, owner of the Rumlin Insurance Agency, to the Florida Black Business Investment Board for a term that began Nov. 3 and ends June 30, 2014.

• The Arlington Council of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce will host the All-Council Holiday Social from 5:30-7:30 p.m. today at the Courtyard Marriott Kendall Town. Petunia Patch Boutique will provide the fashion show and St. Johns River City Band will provide the tunes. Proceeds will benefit Arlington area charities. Info: www.arlingtoncouncil.org.
