• Michael Freed, Florida managing partner of Brennan, Manna and Diamond and president-elect of The Jacksonville Bar Association, will be honored at the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon Wednesday. Freed was nominated for his work with Edward Waters College and will be the college’s table honoree.
• The Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission seeks applicants for the position of Statewide Prosecutor. Applicants must be an elector of the state, a member of The Florida Bar for the preceding five years, and must devote full-time to his or her duties and not engage in the private practice of law. The salary range is $77,470 to $163,626. Applications and the required financial statement are at www.floridabar.org. Applications are due Nov. 23. Jacksonville attorney Howard Coker, a former president of The Jacksonville Bar Association and The Florida Bar, is vice chair of the nominating commission.
• Terrell Hogan recently sponsored a free continuing legal education seminar for Jacksonville attorneys and support staff. Hosted by attorneys Evan Yegelwel, Angelo Patacca and Bruce Anderson, topics covered legal issues ranging from screening potential cases to medical malpractice presuit. Terrell Hogan anticipates making the seminar a Columbus Day tradition.
• The 8th Annual Military Appreciation Luncheon is planned today at the Hyatt Downtown. It’s hosted by the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce and presented by VyStar Credit Union. It’s sold out at 840 participants.
