Susie Wiles, campaign manager for Gov.-elect Rick Scott, and a former aide to two Jacksonville mayors, was named Friday to become Scott’s transition team liaison to the Legislature.
Scott takes office Jan. 4 and plans to meet with every state lawmaker and congressional delegate before then.
“The relationship between the executive office of the governor and the Legislature is critical, and nobody is more trusted for this task than the person who guided my campaign to two victories,” Scott said in a statement about
Wiles.
Wiles and her team will immediately begin reaching out to schedule such meetings, according to a news release from the Scott team, based in Fort Lauderdale.
Wiles was tapped as Scott’s campaign manager in April and led the team through the successful primary and general election campaigns.
According to the news release from the Scott team, Wiles will draw on her governmental and political experience that is both diverse and extensive, and includes service in the executive office of President Ronald Reagan, the U.S. House of Representatives and two presidential campaigns.
In Florida, Wiles has worked in both the public and private sectors and is recognized as an influential communications and public affairs professional.
She worked as a top assistant to Jacksonville Mayors John Delaney and John Peyton.
