Scout Executive & CEO
Boy Scouts of America
North Florida Council

Mission
It is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America, North Florida Council, to deliver the highest quality, values-based youth program of character development and leadership training, based upon the precepts embodied in the Scout Oath and Law, and to prepare young people to make ethical decisions in order to reach their full potential and to better serve their family, community and country.

Serving Jacksonville
The Boy Scouts of America is the nation’s premier and largest youth-serving organization. The Scouting program was chartered by Congress in 1910. Scouting programs in Jacksonville began in 1911.

Those served
Our Council serves 17 counties of Northeast Florida, from south of the Georgia state line to the beginning of Flagler County, and west to Ocala and all the way to Cedar Key on the Gulf.

Biggest challenge
Maintaining and resourcing the supporting services for more than 6,800 Scouting volunteers who work with more than 17,000 youth Scouting members.

Biggest satisfaction
Knowing that somewhere out there, there is a young person who is going to take our place in life and that by teaching young people how to live productive, participating lives based on the 40 words of the Scout Oath and Law gives me great hope and satisfaction for the future.

Hometown
Mount Hope, West Virginia.

First experience with community service
Hosting a backyard carnival for the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association on Labor Day.

Your job before Boy Scouts of America, North Florida Council
I began working for the Boy Scouts of America right out of college. It was and is my first job. I am celebrating 25 years of service this year.

Upcoming events
Feb. 1: More than 17 various community-based “Friends of Scouting” campaigns begin.

March 11: Bradford Sporting Clays Tournament.

April 6: Jacksonville’s Corporate Dodgeball Tournament.
