Decorated Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller and a record number of attendees helped the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association kick off its first luncheon of the year Wednesday at The River Club.
Miller shared stories of her early professional career and transition in becoming the attorney and health and wellness advocate she is today.
Her story, along with several lessons she learned along the way, was well received by the more than 60 JWLA members and guests in attendance.
“There’s no substitute for hard work,” said Miller, who also advocated for the group to set both short- and long-term goals and to believe that there are “no limits” in their goals.
The message, said JWLA President Lindsay Tygart-Havice, fit the theme of the year.
“It is a good message for everyone to hear,” said Tygart-Havice. “It’s not just about work and effort in the professional life, but also about the personal life, too.”
