• TD Bank named Cindy Stover as market president for the newly formed North Florida market. She will be responsible for the commercial, government and community banking business for the market, which includes the Northwest, Northeast, North Central and Mid-North regions. Stover joined Mercantile Bank in 2000 as the Northeast Florida Market President and has more than 27 years of banking experience.

• TD also announced that Kimberly Hazelton has been appointed senior vice president of retail banking for the North Florida market. Hazelton is responsible for leading retail banking sales and service in the area. She previously worked at Fifth Third Bank as regional sales manager and has more than 25 years in the banking industry.

• The Sierra Club Northeast Florida Group has endorsed Democrat Alvin Brown in the May 17 runoff election for mayor of Jacksonville. Sierra Club Chair Janet Stanko said the group was impressed with Brown’s orientation to environmental issues.

• West Riverside Elementary celebrates its 100th anniversary Saturday. Current and former students, faculty and administrators will join the community for tours, a program and lunch from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the school at 2801 Herschel St. West Riverside Elementary is the oldest continually run school in Florida.

• Jacksonville University basketball legend Artist Gilmore will be enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2011. Gilmore’s career started with taking Jacksonville University on a run to the national title game in 1970. He will be inducted into the Hall of Fame during the annual enshrinement ceremony set for Aug. 11-13 in Springfield, Mass. Gilmore is a project development executive with Jacksonville-based W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor Inc.
