Former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell, now with the New York Jets, is in town to support the 19th Annual Club Managers for Kids charity events that included a Celebrity Gala Night of Comedy Sunday night and a golf tournament today.

The Mark Brunell Family Foundation is a sponsor of the event, which benefits the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Special Olympics. Circle K Furniture is a title sponsor.

Brunell, who was at the Sawgrass Marriott for the gala Sunday, said the event raised $150,000 last year and “we want to do our best” this

year.

Brunell and his family have a home in Ponte Vedra Beach and, while they live up North now, “this is home to us.” Brunell said that he had another year with the Jets.

“Whenever football is over, this will eventually be our home.” Asked about the players’ lockout, he said “there will be an agreement” and said close friend Tony Boselli, a former Jaguar, was doing a good job in Jacksonville helping sell season tickets.

Boselli soon arrived for the celebrity gala.

Brunell said this was the second year that his foundation partnered with the event. “I’m proud of it and people have a good time,” he said. “I’m real pleased with the event.”

He said the Mark Brunell Family Foundation is “money in and money out” and most of it supports Wolfson Children’s Hospital, one of the hospitals supported by Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.
