• University of North Florida psychology professor C. Dominik Güss and UNF senior Marissa Lovvorn, a psychology major, presented Lovvorn’s research on risky decision-making in the business world across cultures last week on Capitol Hill. It was part of the 15th annual Posters on the Hill, sponsored by the Council on Undergraduate Research. Lovvorn, who has a 4.0 GPA, was the only Floridian and one of 74 undergraduate students nationwide chosen to present research results in science, math and the humanities.

• The Clara White Mission recently launched a construction maintenance training program for previously homeless North Floridians and asks for community help with donated construction materials, labor and cash. Trained enrollees will soon work on the $1.3 million rehabilitation of a 14,200-square-foot building across the street from the Clara White Mission. The building, acquired through a gift from philantropist Henry Landwirth, will feature apartments, classrooms and space for commercial lease. The mission is kicking off a capital challenge with a gift of $50,000 from an anonymous donor and $25,000 from the Bank of America.

• Speaking of the Clara White Mission, Clara’s at the Cathedral café will be closed Friday for Good Friday. It returns to its regular Friday hours 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. April 29.

• U.S. Rep. Cliff Stearns announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s U.S. Commercial Service is awarding its Export Achievement Certificate to Nationwide Equipment. He will present the certificate, recognizing the company’s work in the global marketplace, at 1:30 p.m. today at Nationwide’s New Kings Road location.
