• Gov. Rick Scott appointed Lad Daniels and Chuck Drake to the governing board of the St. Johns River Water Management District. Daniels is a former City Council president and is president of the First Coast Manufacturers Association and also of Daniels and Associates. Drake is a hydrogeologist in Orlando. Their terms end March 1, 2015. The appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
• Winn-Dixie plans a job fair 3-6 p.m. tomorrow at 2220 County Road 210 for positions that include part-time jobs as associates and clerks. It’s at the company’s “transformational” store.
• Friday’s the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton and The Hamilton Collection in Jacksonville created the first Kate Middleton collectable figurine.
• Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland said more than 308,767 sample ballots were being mailed for Jacksonville’s 2011 general election May 17. There are 518,518 registered voters and sample ballots are being mailed to each residential address instead of each registered voter to save money.
• As of this morning, there were 228,210 registered Democrats in Duval County, 44 percent of the total. Republicans had 192,686 registered voters, for 37 percent. Another 75,470 voters registered with no party affiliation, for 14.6 percent.
