• William Vivian was named to the board of directors of VyStar Credit Union. He was appointed effective June 1 to fill the position vacated by Lawrence R. Jacobs, who retired after 15 years of volunteer service and 12 years of employment in management at VyStar. Vivian is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years retiring as a captain.

• Donell Neal was appointed director of the East Jacksonville Neighborhood Resource Center, a FreshMinistries initiative serving residents in core-city Jacksonville. Neal will assume responsibility of the day-to-day operation of the Resource Center at 616 A. Philip Randolph Blvd.

• State Rep. Mike Weinstein said his campaign finance committee includes more than 100 people from Duval, Clay and St. Johns counties. Weinstein is a Republican representing District 19. He was elected to the House in 2008 and is an assistant state attorney and executive director of the State Attorney’s Office. Elected officials on the committee include Sen. Steve Wise; state Rep. Bill Proctor; Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler; Duval County Sheriff John Rutherford; Duval School Board Chair W.C. Gentry; City Council members Richard Clark, Stephen Joost and Matt Schellenberg; State Attorney Angela Corey; and Public Defender Matt Shirk. Other high-profile names: Nelson Cuba, John Delaney, Wayne Weaver and Susie Wiles.

• The University of North Florida will honor student Katelyn Tierney, who will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in health administration, as the recipient of the Senior Service Award for the summer graduating class. UNF said 690 degrees will be handed out Friday at the UNF Arena. Tierney has volunteered in many capacities, including establishing a dance marathon at UNF, an 18-hour fundraiser supporting Children’s Miracle Network and Shands Jacksonville that helped raise $75,000.
