Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday for two seats in the Circuit and County Courts.

Gov. Rick Scott has asked the local judicial nominating commission to find candidates to be considered for vacancies created by the impending departure of two judges.

Circuit Judge Haldane Taylor submitted his resignation and County Judge Kevin Blazs was appointed to fill the seat of the late Circuit Judge Jefferson Morrow.

Applicants must deliver a completed application plus nine copies and one compact disk or flash drive containing a duplicate of the completed application in Adobe.pdf format to:

Wayne Alford, Chair

Fourth Judicial Circuit

Nominating Commission

Alford Law Group, P.A.

8833 Perimeter Park Blvd.,

Suite 104

Jacksonville, FL 32216

The application form can be downloaded from www.floridabar.org.

Eligibility requirements for both seats include being a member of The Florida Bar for the past five years and a Florida registered voter.

Applicants for the Circuit seat must be a resident of Duval, Clay or Nassau counties. Applicants for the County seat must be a resident of Duval County.

If needed, the Fourth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission will interview applicants for the Circuit seat on Aug. 29 in the chambers of Chief Judge Donald Moran, Room 222 in the Duval County Courthouse.

Interviews for the County seat are Sept. 9.
