Judy Hicks of Re/Max Coastal Real Estate is no stranger to winning Laurel Awards.
She’s won 14 of them since 1994 including “Associate of the Year,” “Best Overall Ad Campaign” and “Realtor of the Year.”
The former she accomplished again and she recently won a Laurel for Realtor of the Year.
“With this year’s “Realtor of the Year” Laurel award I was happy and humbled,” said Hicks. “The competition in this industry is strong.”
Hicks said her continued win of Laurels and success in real estate comes from a servant attitude.
“I continue to serve,” she said. “I firmly believe that ‘givers get.’ I have a passion for certain things like the charitable endeavors and I’m a joiner. I like to network with the industry’s best and brightest.
“It’s always exciting to see the new SMC leader come on board with new and different ideas and a different focus. I appreciate the opportunity to give back,” she said. “Having been one of the first 35 to join SMC way back when, I continue to see the value of being a member. Serving on the board is a commitment that I take seriously and thoroughly enjoy.”
Getting involved in SMC, she said, helps you to stand out while helping to make the organization better.
“Attend the meetings and get to know the other associate members and site agents,” said Hicks. “Sell new homes.”
The criteria to enter to win the “Realtor of the Year” include selling new homes and contributions to the community and industry.
Winning a Laurel can be great in marketing your business and shows a dedication to hard work, she said.
“Winning a Laurel is an endorsement of my hard work and my contribution to this industry,” said Hicks. “I spend a lot of time networking and educating myself about the new homebuying process and the new home products. That helps my business because I have the knowledge needed to sell new construction.”
