The Downtown Council of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce started a tradition in 1995 that the organization and a crowd of volunteers maintained Saturday.

Each year on the Saturday before the first home game for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the paw prints along Bay Street from the foot of the Main Street Bridge to the stadium are repainted, 236 bright yellow marks in all.

This year, more than 100 people participated in the tradition, including two members of The Roar of the Jaguars and team mascot Jaxson de Ville.

After the final paw print was renewed, the group gathered at Northstar the Pizza Bar on East Bay Street for breakfast and refreshments.

The Jaguars will host the Atlanta Falcons at 8 p.m. Friday at EverBank Field, this year’s first home preseason game. The regular season kicks off at 1 p.m. Sept. 11 vs. the Tennessee Titans at EverBank Field.
