• The governor’s office has issued a new photo (right) for Gov. Rick Scott and is asking media to use it rather than “any others you may have on file,” such as the one (left) that has been circulating since his campaign last year.
• Gas prices were up slightly this morning from Monday, at an average $3.54 per gallon compared with $3.535. The price was down 6 cents a gallon from a week ago and down 7 cents over the month, but up 87 cents over the year, according to www.jacksonvillegasprices.com.
• The St. Johns River Water Management District announced it intends to grant an environmental resource permit to Yabaha 9 LLC for a 4.9-acre religious facility, including parking spaces, sidewalks, an access drive and associated utilities, known as Baha’i Center. The site is at 5034 Greenland Road.
• The first class of physician assistants from Nova Southeastern University’s Jacksonville Student Educational Center will graduate Aug. 28. Physician assistants practice medicine working with members of a health care team including physicians and surgeons. The 39 physician assistant students began their 27- month program in 2009. They participated in their required medical rotations at local hospitals such as Mayo Clinic, the Baptist Health system, Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Nemours Children’s Clinic.
