Executive Director
Art with a Heart in Healthcare

Mission
To provide personalized fine art experiences that enhance the healing process for patients and their families.

Serving Jacksonville
Based in Jacksonville; formed in 2001.

Those served
We have served more than 29,000 patients and their families since 2001. We currently have fine artists working at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, Nemours Children’s Clinic and Ronald McDonald House.

Biggest challenge
Meeting the patient demand for our services.

Biggest satisfaction
Everyone on our extraordinary team of artists has experienced the healing effects of art. I have the privilege of knowing that our artists bring measurable comfort and healing to hurting patients and their families. I’ve said it many times, I have the best job in the world.

Hometown
I’m a proud native of Jacksonville.

First experience with community serice
My mom, Peggy McDonald, has always been my role model for serving our community. I remember being 5 years old and going with her to visit Ms. N, who was receiving hospice services. Even as Ms. N was dying, she would make these beautifully intricate hand-stitched quilts. She gave me one before she died and it made quite an impression on me. From a very young age I experienced the powerful comfort offered when we create and share art.

Upcoming events
We realize that not all of us can contribute by volunteering as a fine artist, but we can all still help bring art to sick children. We’re excited to offer a Donor Gift Exchange initiative where anyone can make a donation in honor of someone else. Honorees receive a card in the mail letting them know what their donation can provide in their honor — patient time with an artist, art supplies for a child for a year, and so on.

The donor receives a tax deduction for the amount donated, the honoree receives the pleasure of knowing a child is being helped in his or her name and everyone is spared a post-holiday trip to the returns counter. We think it’s a win-win for everyone. More information can be found on our website.
