Want to meet the local candidates vying for a seat in the spring elections?

WOKV 690-AM and 106.5-FM, the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce and ImpactJax will host the 2011 Political Hob Nob for City elections from 5-7 p.m. March 10 at the Hyatt Downtown.

Candidates for mayor, sheriff, City Council and other positions have been invited to participate.

The event is free and open to the public.

Participants also will be able to vote in a straw poll conducted by ImpactJax, which is the chamber’s young professionals group. The votes will be counted by Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland, who is unopposed in the election.

The City’s first election is March 22 and the general election is May 17. Early voting begins March 7.

“The 2011 election season is shaping up to be defining in terms of impact and has warranted this special event during this election season,” said a news announcement from WOKV and the chamber.
