• Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland issued a reminder that Feb. 22 is the last day to register to vote for new registrations for Jacksonville’s March 22 first election. Citizens must return a completed voter registration application to one of the two main Supervisor of Elections offices by the close of business Tuesday. It’s a lobbying trip to focus on economic development, military affairs, the port, small business and federal funding. Cost is $1,150, not including airfare or transportation to and from the airport.
• The 48th Annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival is April 29-May 1 at Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island. Presented by Publix, the events start Friday night with the pirate invasion. Along with music and food, the festival will feature more than 300 artists and craftspeople as well as about 75 booths of antiques, collectibles and furniture.
