• Mary Nussbaum joined the law firm of Jimerson & Wilson as executive director. She was previously a certified family mediator and a partner at the law firm of Nussbaum & Nussbaum, where her practice focused on family law.

• A YouTube contest will be a part of The Florida Bar’s 2011 Law Day activities. Students can choose a topic for their video from the Legal Guide for New Adults. The deadline is March 31. Visit www.floridabar.org. for more information. Law Day is May 1.

• The Florida Bar’s City, County and Local Government section requests nominations by April 1 for its Ralph A. Marsicano Award to recognize a lawyer who has made a significant contribution to the practice of local government law. Nominations can be submitted to Ricky Libbert, The Florida Bar, 651 E. • The Johnson Family YMCA is taking registrations for its “Celebrate Life” 5k fitness walk and run March 5. For information, visit www.firstcoastymca.org.

• The 9th Annual “Together We Can” breakfast to benefit the Justice Coalition is Thursday, Feb. 24. Doors open at 6:45 a.m. at First Baptist Church Downtown. For more information call Ann Dugger, 783-6312, or Kelly White, 388-2131.

• The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce plans a “Discover China” trip Nov. 5-13. It’s $2,199, with a $100 discount for chamber members. The cost includes airfare from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, hotels, meals, bus tours and more. Travelers are responsible for transportation to JFK. • The Jacksonville Transportation Authority received a $4 million federal grant to buy eight hybrid buses as a part of JTA’s ongoing fleet replacement program. The grant is funded through a program that supports the U. S. Department of Transportation’s environmental sustainability efforts. JTA was the only Florida agency that received funds.

• The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Foundation honored five Florida nonprofits for improving the health of the state’s uninsured and underserved populations. In Jacksonville, DLC Nurse & Learn won an honorable mention, and $50,000.
