The First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held its latest networking event at the law offices of Marks Gray Thursday.
The event provides members and guests of the chamber to exchange information and learn about both Hispanic and non-Hispanic businesses throughout Northeast Florida.
This follows the example of the organization’s mission statement “promoting the growth of Hispanic businesses on the First Coast and encouraging sound, ethical businesses practices in the Hispanic community.”
“Whether you are Hispanic or not, it’s all about doing the right thing,” said Ed Perez, president of the chamber.
Perez also lauded Jacksonville small business Brunet-Garcia Advertising for being featured on the cover of Florida Trend magazine’s special February issue on small businesses.
The company was incorporated in March 2003 with four partners and four accounts. The company now employs a staff of 23.
Along with Perez, the chamber’s board of directors includes immediate past President Betzy Santiago, Secretary Carmen Rosa-Brooks, Treasurer Angela Tharp and directors Patty Paredes, Rebecca Black, Carlos Bouvier, Cristina Gonzalez-Parcell, Idania Lizano, Romina Rivera, Pedro Rosales, Marino Rodriguez, Luis Vienrich and Laura Zablah.
There was also opportunity to talk to candidates running for local office. Alvin Brown, candidate for mayor; Sean Hall, candidate for City Council At-Large Group 5; and Mario Rubio, candidate for City Council District 3 , attended the event, while representatives for mayoral candidates Mike Hogan and Audrey Moran were also available to talk with attendees.
