Thomas Hager has been a name in fine art photography since 1998. Whether it’s his own style of wedding photography, his work published in “Luxury Living” and “Water’s Edge” magazines or a simple composition of a flower rendered with a vintage photography technique, you’ve probably seen his work, whether you realized it or not.
Lately, Hager has been branching out to include photographs created for corporate art buyers and interior designers in his portfolio. He and wife, Missy, have opened an “Off the Grid” gallery at the SunTrust Building to show that side of his photography.
In the south end of the building’s lobby in the space formerly occupied by SunTrust’s Private Wealth Management division, Hager’s “Town Editions” gallery and showroom will mark its grand opening at the March 2 First Wednesday Art Walk.
“This is a gorgeous space. It inspires me to look at art more in a corporate sense. I think it will take what I do to another dimension,” said Hager.
In addition to photographs depicting a variety of subjects from nature, Hager is also showing some of his abstract paintings.
“As long as I’m creating, I don’t have boundaries,” he said.
While much of the work is already framed, the gallery also offers a selection of mounted prints. Hager said that allows a buyer to save money and choose the perfect frame for the decor, whether home or office.
“I want to make my art accessible to all markets,” he said.
Hager, who’s new to working Downtown, said he thinks he’s found a new professional home in the short time he’s spent in the neighborhood.
“I’ve never had a space like this before. This is beachfront property as far as Downtown is concerned. This is my first time working Downtown, but this is where I’ll be from now on,” he said.
Art Walk is 5-9 p.m. March 2, rain or shine. For more information, visit www.downtownjacksonville.org.
