• Joel Haka will join Jacksonville-based Florida East Coast Railway Feb. 21 as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the maritime operations industry, most recently serving as senior vice president and chief operating officer of CMA CGM (America) LLC in Norfolk, Va., overseeing its North American marine, terminal and inland operations.

• JCCI Forward plans “JaxFacts Candidate Speed Dating” from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at City Hall Downtown. Mayoral candidates include Andy Bryan, David Crosby, Chris Hill, Steve Irvine, Warren Lee and Audrey Moran. • The Lingerie Football League will hold its conference championships in Jacksonville Saturday night, with the first of two games starting at 6 p.m. Jacksonville doesn’t have a team in the league, but Mitchell Mortaza, founder and chair of the league, said the games here will test the market. “Jacksonville has done well with the Arena Football, so we wanted to see what kind of interest there is here for a Lingerie Football League team,” he said, predicting a Jacksonville team by the 2012 season.

• The Broadway musical Hairspray opens Feb. 18 at Alhambra Theatre & Dining, which will host a Locks of Love hair donation event from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. March 13. It will also make a cash donation to the organization from ticket sales of both shows that day. The Brumos Companies will be the presenting sponsor of the show, which runs through April 4.
