• Bruce Johnson, executive vice president and CFO of Jacksonville-based Regency Centers, was named the 2011-13 district council chair for ULI North Florida. He will provide overall strategic leadership for the North Florida District Council and its volunteers.

• State Rep. Daniel Davis relocated his state House District 13 office to the OakLeaf Plantation at 8465 Merchants Way. Davis, a Republican, is a freshman legislator in the Florida House of Representatives. He was a District 12 Jacksonville City Council member for seven years. The office is open and a grand opening is scheduled noon-3 p.m. Saturday.

• City Communications Director Abel Harding said Tuesday Mayor Alvin Brown hopes to have the transition reports for his 18 committees wrapped up this week and an announcement about it within the next few days. Harding said the mayor was spending a good portion of Tuesday “finalizing plans for the budget he plans to deliver on July 15.” Brown also met with Gov. Rick Scott.

• The annual July 5th Beaches Cleanup welcomed 103 volunteers who filled 200 garbage bags with litter Tuesday morning, according to Vivian Harrell of Clean it up, Green it up/Keep Jacksonville Beautiful. The City teamed with the Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol to organize the post Fourth of July event held from 7-9 a.m. to help clean up the beaches. The annual event reached 15 years in 2011.

• Now that Jacksonville City Council approved both incentives packages to assist EverBank in moving 1,000 jobs from the Southside to Downtown and create 200 more, is a decision imminent? The official comment: “EverBank is appreciative of this opportunity to relocate to a Downtown location. We’re committed to evaluate it fully in order to make the right choice for our employees, the company and the City of Jacksonville. We will continue to evaluate all of our space-planning options, including remaining at our current location, and will announce a decision in the weeks to come.”

• San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro is scheduled as keynote speaker for the annual meeting of Jacksonville Community Council Inc. The event is 11:15 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership. Info: www.jcci.org.

• JCCI CEO Skip Cramer said Mayor Castro recently led San Antonio through a visioning process that involved JCCI. Board chair Bill Mason and his wife, Julie, attended the fiesta releasing the vision and were impressed with the community support. Cramer said Castro’s office approached JCCI a year ago about assisting in the visioning process.
