Mayor Alvin Brown spoke to the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce Cornerstone meeting Friday after his morning budget presentation.

“We have the best chamber on planet Earth,” he said, thanking chamber President Wally Lee for his assistance as co-chair of the personnel transition committee.

Brown also thanked chamber executive vice president and Cornerstone President Jerry Mallot for working with Jacksonville Civic Council Executive Director Don Shea to review the City’s economic development strategy and procedures.

About 460 people attended the lunch at the Hyatt Downtown. The chamber announced that Cornerstone, its economic development division, will be rebranded as “JAXUSA Partnership For Regional Economic Development.”

Keynote speaker Robert Hill, president and CEO of Acosta Sales & Marketing, shared insights into the Jacksonville-based company, whose 20,000 employees in 65 offices represent major consumer-products companies. They work with retailers to place products on the shelves and make sure they are priced and marketed for the best results.

His topic was “Why Trusted Brands Trust Us.”

The next quarterly meeting of JAXUSA will be Sept. 6 and will feature the annual Jacksonville Jaguars rally.
