• Sarah Carter joined Burdette Ketchum as print production and traffic manager. She will oversee the production of all printed, nonbroadcast materials for clients of the marketing, consulting and communications firm. She also will handle agency project assignment and status management.

• CoreLogic, a research service, said Tuesday that 46.5 percent, or 153,640, of all residential properties in Jacksonville with a mortgage were in negative equity the first quarter of the year. Another 4.8 percent, or 15,954, were in near negative equity. Negative equity, often referred to as “underwater” or “upside down,” means that borrowers owe more on their mortgages than their homes are worth. Nationally, negative equity and near-negative equity mortgages accounted for 27.7 percent of all residential properties with a mortgage.

• Jacksonville will host The Global Day of Prayer Thursday-Saturday, including the 6 p.m. Saturday prayer gathering at the Arena. GodTV will stream the event live to more than 220 countries. Conferences are planned at the Hyatt— “Foundations for Transformation” and “Worship 1st.”

• Jacksonville Business Journal Staff Writer Mark Szakonyi will join “The Journal of Commerce” in its Washington, D.C., bureau July 11. Szakonyi covered logistics, trade, manufacturing and the military during his nearly four years in Jacksonville. His last day at the JBJ will be June 23. At the Journal of Commerce, he will be editing and reporting for both the print and online editions. The Journal covers all aspects of international trade, shipping and logistics.
