• Attendees at the City’s recent annual Sunshine and Public Records Law training received a surprise welcome. Former University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow sent a letter to thank the attendees for “working hard to keep Jacksonville a fantastic place to live and visit.” He was pleased to hear about current ethics legislation. “I have always loved the definition of ethics, ’The philosophy of morality.’ I really cannot think of anything more important for OUR City than leaders who have morality at their core,” stated Tebow, now a quarterback with the Denver Broncos.
• Expecting a crowd, the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission said Wednesday it is moving today’s 9 a.m. meeting from a conference room at City Hall to the eighth floor of the Ed Ball Building at 214 N. Hogan St. It’s unclear how many people will attend, but opposition is expected to an incentives deal for EverBank to move 1,000 jobs from the Southside to Downtown.
• The Gator Bowl Association said the 67th annual college football bowl game will be played at 1 p.m. Jan. 2 at EverBank Field and televised nationally on ESPN2. The game will match a team from the Southeastern Conference against a team from the Big Ten Conference.
• Todd Lynch, director of public relations at St. John & Partners in Jacksonville, commented on the text and tweeting scandal embroiling U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner, a New York Democrat. Weiner sent lewd photos and text messages, but took a while to admit it, despite growing evidence the photos were from him. Lynch appeared Wednesday on The Morning Show on Channel 4 and cautioned viewers to be careful about what they share on social media. Lynch also stated one of the rules of the trade when such situations arise: “Tell it first, tell it fast and tell it all.”
