• Hugh Greene and Preston Haskell will headline the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce Downtown Council lunch Friday to talk about the Jacksonville Civic Council’s recent Northbank Redevelopment Task Force report. Greene is the chamber chair and Haskell chaired the task force. The event is 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at The University Club. For information, visit www.downtowncouncil.org. 

• Jacksonville University’s Marine Science Research Institute was awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification status. It will unveil the official plaque at 10 a.m. next Thursday.

• As the Riverside Arts Market resumes Saturday for the season, Mayor John Peyton and City Council members Michael Corrigan and Warren Jones will be among the crew to officially open the 200-foot L-shaped floating dock on the western end of the Northbank Riverwalk. The ceremony is 10:30 a.m.

• The Florida Department of Transportation started a project to repair pavement on 6.6 miles of Interstate 95 between Atlantic Boulevard and Butler Boulevard. The $12.4 million project includes building noise projection barriers on I-95, an extension of existing noise walls. After that, work starts on the $185.5 million Overland Bridge replacement project.

• After former President George W. Bush referred to brother Jeb Bush, a former Florida governor, as “an awesome dude” at a Tuesday night presentation in Jacksonville, he lowered his voice and added a line that some might have missed. Mayor John Peyton said he heard it, too. “‘He should run for president, but he won’t,’” recalled Peyton.
