• Early voting for the March 22 First Election starts today in Duval County. Early voting is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and noon-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday through March 20. • Former Florida Bar President Rutledge R. Liles of Liles, Gavin, Costantino, George & Dearing appeared before the Florida Senate Judiciary Committee Feb. 22 in Tallahassee to offer testimony in connection with issues regarding insurance bad faith litigation. Liles recently authored an article titled “Florida Insurance Bad Faith Law: Protecting Businesses and You” which will appear in the March issue of The Florida Bar Journal.
• The First District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission is accepting applications for two vacancies on the First District Court of Appeal caused by the resignations of Charles J. Kahn Jr. and Peter D. Webster. Applicants must have been members of The Florida Bar for the preceding 10 years, registered voters and residents of the territorial jurisdiction of the court at the time of assuming office. • The North Florida Hispanic Leadership Alliance announced its endorsement for candidates running in the March 22 first election for City Council. The alliance said it represents and influences about 17,800 Hispanic voters in Duval County. It endorsed Mario Rubio, District 3; Paul Martinez, At-Large Group 2; and Juan Diaz, At-Large Group 4.
• Tomorrow, the Northside Business Leaders will host a formal debate between mayoral candidates. As of Friday, the committed participants were Mike Hogan, Warren Lee and Rick Mullaney.
