• Women Business Owners of North Florida recently named its 2011 Women in Business award winners. Gwen Griggs is Pioneer of the Year; Grace Huxtable-Mount is Franchisee of the Year; Cynthia Montello is Entrepreneur of the Year; and Candace Moody is Corporate Leader of the Year.

• The Jacksonville University Women’s History Month Committee honored three women of the year Tuesday. JU Woman of the Year is Janet Haavisto, JU Student of the Year is Sarah Morris and JU Community Woman of the Year is Pam Mullarkey. Haavisto is a professor of English and director of the Honors Program; Morris graduated in December with a bachelor of science degree in aviation management and flight operations; and Mullarkey is a JU graduate with bachelor’s and master’s degrees and is founder and director of Project SOS Inc.

• Baptist Health has organized a free annual Heart Health Fair and continues this year with the Women’s Heart Connection from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. April 16 at the Main Library Downtown. For more information, call 246-7494.

• Girls Inc. of Jacksonville announced that Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation Chair and CEO Delores Barr Weaver will be honorary chair of the May 5 “Girls in Action” and “Women of Vision” reception during Girls’ Rights Week. The “Women of Vision” awards go to JU Chancellor Emeritus Frances Bartlett Kinne, the Academic Achievement Award; the Rev. Kimberly Hyatt, executive director of the Cathedral Arts Project, the Art Achievement Award; and Pepper Peete, executive director of The First Tee of Jacksonville, the Athletic Achievement Award.
