The Jacksonville Public Library in partnership with Players by the Sea Community Theatre, One World Foundation Inc., WJCT Public Broadcasting and Brunet-Garcia Advertising & Public Relations, presents “The World of Foote” Friday at the Main

Library.

Hallie Foote, daughter of Horton Foote and foremost interpreter of his work, will be in Jacksonville as part of her effort to advance her father’s legacy as one of America’s finest authors of the past century.

She was nominated for a Tony Award for her Broadway performance as Mary Jo in her father’s comedy, “Dividing the Estate” in 2009, the year of her father’s death.

Horton Foote is an American playwright and screenwriter, perhaps best known for his Academy Award-winning screenplays “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “Tender Mercies.”

Hallie Foote will give an interpretive reading of selected passages from her father’s extensive body of work.

The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the interpretive reading and a question-and-answer period. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Reservations must be made at http://theworldoffoote.eventbrite.com.
