Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland said this morning that his office will count the remaining 1,050 absentee ballots and 642 provisional ballots starting at 9 a.m. today. That could take up to 10 hours. If the vote difference is within one-half of 1 percent, the candidate with the fewest votes is entitled to a recount, which could take up to 48 hours. All the ballots would be run through the voting machine again and the recount would not be completed until over the weekend, he said. “This is the first mayor’s race this close,” said Holland.
