• Jacksonville Young Republicans President Peret Pass was elected chair of the Florida Federation of Young Republicans and Treasurer Josh Cockrell was elected the federation’s assistant treasurer. The Jacksonville Young Republican Club, established in 2009, is a chartered club of the Florida Federation of Young Republicans.

• Also, the Jacksonville Young Republicans received three awards and won two elections at the Florida Federation of Young Republicans annual convention in Jacksonville over the weekend. The group won “Club of the Year” for the second consecutive year and “Large Club of the Year” and also received its second “Charitable Event of the Year” award, this year for partnering with the Duval GOP to raise $5,000 for Tiger Academy

• The Mayo Clinic campus in Jacksonville is a winner of the 2011 Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence from VHA Inc., a national health care network. The award honors Mayo Clinic for meeting or exceeding national performance standards for clinical care and improving the patient experience. Only 28 VHA member hospitals will receive the award in 2011.

• The Community Foundation in Jacksonville added two trustees to its board. Martha Frye Baker and Ryan Schwartz were approved as members in April and their terms began May 1. Baker is a community volunteer who serves on the boards of WJCT and several other organizations. Schwartz is senior vice president of Zurich Insurance Services Inc.
