• City Council member Warren Jones shows the results of being a Florida Gator fan. He and Council members Johnny Gaffney, John Crescimbeni and Bill Gulliford had their Gator ties cut Tuesday by Council member Kimberly Daniels under the direction of member Greg Anderson, representing the Georgia Bulldogs. The annual tie-cutting involves the winners and losers of the annual Florida-Georgia game. Georgia prevailed.

• Before a City Council vote Tuesday on the ordinance regarding the Monument Road poker room, seven Council members had already declared ex parte communications with project lawyer Paul Harden and 10 more rose one by one to declare that they, too, had spoken with Harden or other representatives. Kimberly Daniels stood to announce that “he didn’t call me.” She asked Harden to explain the opposition he’s heard about the project. He did, and added that “I did try to come see you but you weren’t there.” The ordinance passed 14-4. Daniels, Doyle Carter, Don Redman and Clay Yarborough voted against it.

• The City issued a permit for Dav-Lin Interior Contractors to renovate space for Align Networks at 7785 Baymeadows Way, No. 104, at a project cost of $49,000.

• On the retail side, Signal Point Systems Inc. will build out space for two retailers at 10100 San Jose Blvd. — Aaron’s and RIMCO — each at a project cost of $131,263.

• Construction was approved for Roy Anderson Corp. to build Celebration Church at 9555 R.G. Skinner Parkway. The 80,000-square-foot project carries a cost of $12.2 million.
