• OneJax announced its 2012 Humanitarian Awards, which will be awarded May 24 at the Hyatt Downtown. The 2012 Silver Medallions will be awarded to Dr. Sol Brotman, a dentist in private practice; Hugh Greene, president and CEO of Baptist Health; Dr. Yazan Khatib of the First Coast Cardiovascular Institute; and community volunteer Karen Wolfson. The awards honor those dedicated to the improvement of human relations among diverse groups in the community.

• In the medical field, the City issued permits for Commercial Interiors to renovate space for Jacksonville Hearing & Balance Institute at 10475 Centurion Parkway, No. 304, at a cost of $145,000; Adams Interior Contractors Inc. is handling alterations for Industrial Medicine Associates at 3901 University Blvd. S., Unit 205, at a cost of $54,588.

• Gov. Rick Scott appointed Jim Johns and Michell Long of Jacksonville to the Florida Commission on Human Relations. Johns is president of The Johns Group Inc. Long is a facility manager at Florida State College at Jacksonville.

• Correction: Pamela Walker was misidentified in a photo cutline on Page A-4 on Wednesday.

• Gov. Rick Scott appointed John Falconetti and reappointed Reginald Gaffney to the Jacksonville Port Authority. Falconetti, president of the Drummond Press, succeeds Buck Fowler. Gaffney has been a JPA board member since 2008 and is vice chairman. Their terms began Wednesday and end Sept. 30, 2015.
