The selection of merchandise at the Museum Shop at the Museum of Contemporary Art along Laura Street at Hemming Plaza is as distinctive as what’s found in the galleries on the floors above.

The store stocks contemporary jewelry, home and personal accessories, art books and educational children’s toys along with original fine art created by local artists.

Proceeds from the Museum Shop benefit programming at the museum and members receive a 10 percent discount on purchases.

The shop has scheduled a series of dedicated shopping evenings beginning Thursday, when from 5-8 p.m., MOCA members only are invited to shop at discounted prices and sample beverages and light hors d’oeuvres.

Dec. 8 is “For Men Only.” The evening of Dec. 15 is “For Women Only.”

The holiday shopping promotions conclude Dec. 22 with a sale and celebration for museum volunteers.

Café Nola, the museum’s fine dining venue, will be open each shopping evening for dinner, as will MOCA’s galleries and exhibitions.

The Museum Shop is open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.
