How did you get involved?
I have been working as an Academic Success Counselor at the Florida Coastal School of Law for the past year and have spent most of my time working with students. I received an email about the “Ask-A-Lawyer” program and I thought it would be a great way to help out the community and would also give me an opportunity to continue working with family law issues.
How can someone else get involved?
For more information about the “Ask-A-Lawyer” program, contact Kathy Para, Jacksonville Area Legal Aid Pro Bono Development Coordinator, at 356-8371, ext. 363, or by e-mail at [email protected].
What have you learned/achieved through the experience?
I attended my first “Ask-A-Lawyer” event in June, but I am sure it will not be the last. I learned that there is a great demand for free legal help in the community, especially in the present economy. The event also helped remind me how important it is to help others and that it is possible to have a positive impact on another person’s life in just a few minutes.
What was the last book you read or are reading?
I read all the time, but I most recently finished reading the “Hunger Games” series. I am now reading George R.R. Martin’s “Game of Thrones” series and “Then Came You” by Jennifer Weiner.
