The latest addition to Downtown’s streetscape is a new sign at Adams and Ocean streets, above the front door of Burro Bar.

The new wayfinding fixture was the prize in a promotional contest sponsored by Harbinger Signs to award a $2,000 grant to a Downtown business that wanted to increase its visibility.

Harbinger Marketing Coordinator Jamie DeVries said eight businesses applied for the grant. Burro Bar was selected based on the club’s highly visible location and “they didn’t have a sign and they needed one,” she said.

DeVries said the new Burro Bar sign joins the company’s other work Downtown, including the signage at The Dalton Agency, Perdue Office Interiors, Chew restaurant and 121 Credit Union.

Harbinger also designs and fabricates signs for Gate Petroleum in North Florida and for 7-Eleven stores nationwide.

Christopher Williams, co-founder of Burro Bags and Burro Bar, said he and his partners added some funds to the grant for the sign.

“The bar is doing great, so we upped the budget a little,” he said.

Williams said the company policy at Burro Bags has always been to donate merchandise to cycling-related events like trade shows and races, so “it’s nice to have someone give something to us.”
