The City Council Rules Committee approved this redistricting map Thursday during a special meeting, but there are more potential changes on the way. The full Council on Tuesday postponed the vote on redistricting for two weeks, allowing Council members more time to suggest changes. Rules Chairman Bill Bishop said the plan is to vote on a map at the Oct. 25 full Council meeting. That allows Council to schedule another public hearing and vote on a final map at the Nov. 8 full Council meeting. If Council cannot agree on a redistricting plan by Nov. 18, the Fourth Judicial Circuit will decide. “We are getting ourselves up against the clock on time on this thing,” Bishop said. Since the first working map was approved, alterations have included rejoining the Riverside and Avondale historic areas of District 14; rejoining the Windy Hill neighborhood in District 4; relocating the Whitehouse neighborhood back into District 12; and the removal of a J-shaped site from District 13 that spanned from the Beaches to south of Butler Boulevard.
