• Three pediatric subspecialists joined the medical staff of Wolfson Children’s Hospital and the faculty of the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville. Pediatric cardiovascular surgeon Michael Shillingford and pediatric cardiologist Brandon Kuebler joined the university Pediatric Cardiovascular Center affiliated with Wolfson. Jason Scimeme, a pediatric critical care medicine physician, serves children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Wolfson.
• The Jacksonville Bar Association member luncheon scheduled for Friday has been postponed. Guest speaker David Cole had a family emergency. The JBA plans to reschedule the meeting in October.
• Legendary performer Mikhail Baryshnikov will host a dance performance to benefit White Oak Conservation Center during “Wild Weekend at White Oak” Oct. 8-9. Reservations close Friday. • Jacksonville Port Authority CEO Paul Anderson had a busy Wednesday last week. He attended the swearing-in ceremony at 4 p.m. for his wife, Sarah, who became a member of The Florida Bar, and then headed to The River Club for a meeting with David Plouffe, a senior adviser to President Barack Obama.
• Condolences to the family and friends of Karl “Jay” Jabour, who died Sunday. Jabour, 53, is survived by his wife and two children. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church. Visitation at the church is 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by recital of a rosary.
• The Jacksonville Aviation Authority elected Dr. Chester Aikens as chairman for the 2011-12 fiscal year, which begins Saturday. Aikens, a dentist, replaces Ernie Isaac Jr. as chairman. Isaac continues to serve as a member of the seven-member board. A.L. Kelly was elected as vice chairman, Ron Weaver as treasurer and Deborah Pass-Durham as secretary.
• TD Bank named Dennis R. Bougie as vice president, portfolio manager. Based in St. Augustine, he is responsible for building and managing a portfolio of commercial loans in excess of $500,000, serving clients in Duval, St. Johns, Flagler and Volusia counties.
• The Florida Department of Children & Families is advertising for a new regional managing director, with an anticipated hiring pay range of $95,000-$110,000. Former director Nancy Dreicer recently resigned from the position.
• State Attorney Angela Corey is the speaker Wednesday to the Southside Business Men’s Club. The group meets at lunch at San Jose Country Club. Corey, a 30-year veteran prosecutor, was elected in November 2008.
• Shirley Smith and Mya Surrency formed the Smith & Surrency marketing agency, specializing in digital marketing techniques, public relations, online brand management, content creation and delivery programs, business-to-business marketing and strategic planning. Both worked at Visit Jacksonville.
