Part of the list of entertainers booked for the May 24-27 “Mayor Brown presents Jacksonville Jazz Festival 2012” was announced Thursday by Mayor Alvin Brown.

Confirmed acts to date are Sonny Rollins, the Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White Trio, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Poncho Sanchez with his Latin Jazz Band and Karrin Allyson. Patti Austin will perform with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.

“The Jacksonville Jazz Festival promotes a greater quality of life by drawing thousands of people to our Downtown. This is the perfect opportunity for families and groups of friends to gather, take in performances, enjoy a stroll along our treasured St. Johns River and feel the heartbeat of our city’s urban center,” Brown said.

Three stages will be set up along Laura Street from Hemming Plaza to the Landing. The “Swingin’ Stage,” sponsored again this year by the Jacksonville Aviation Authority, will be set up on Monroe Street between Main and Ocean streets.

In addition to JAA, this year’s sponsors are Farah & Farah; Keyboard Connection Pianos & Organs; the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront, the official host hotel; and the Omni Jacksonville, the official co-host hotel.

General admission to the festival is free, with VIP and preferred seating passes available for purchase at the City of Jacksonville Special Events Office at City Hall and by visiting jaxjazzfest.com.
