• Gov. Rick Scott appointed Kara Tucker, vice mayor of Neptune Beach, to the Florida Rehabilitation Council. Tucker is an admissions coordinator at the University of North Florida. Her appointment began Tuesday and ends June 30, 2014.
• The University of North Florida has affiliated with OneJax, the nonprofit interfaith organization that promotes respect and understanding among people of different religions, races and cultures, and has established the OneJax Institute. The institute will complement services already provided to faculty, staff and students through the UNF Interfaith Center and the Intercultural Center for PEACE at UNF. OneJax and the Interfaith Center will present the “Oneness of Humanity: On Common Ground” event at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 in the University Center on campus. The event is free and open to the public.
