• Gordon Steadman with Elkins Constructors Inc. has been installed as the 2012 president of NAIOP of Northeast Florida, the region’s commercial real estate trade association.

• Other NAIOP officers for 2012 include President-elect and Secretary Traci Jenks, CBRE, and Public Affairs Vice President Wyman Duggan, an attorney with Rogers Towers. The board also includes, among other members, past presidents Chuck White with NAI Hallmark Partners, Oliver Barakat with CBRE, Erik Sharpe with Brasfield & Gorrie and Karl Hanson with Flagler.

• The board of Family Support Services of North Florida Inc. appointed E. Lee Kaywork as CEO effective Feb. 1. He has been vice president since 2008 and was previously in the telecommunication industry.

• Thomas Morgan, chairman and chief executive officer of Baker & Taylor Inc., has been elected to the board of Jacksonville-based Rayonier. Baker & Taylor is a distributor of books, videos and music products to libraries, institutions and retailers. Morgan previously served on the Rayonier board from 2004-08.

• Mark Kinevan, vice president of energy trading at The Energy Authority, has been appointed COO, an expansion of his role. As COO, his expanded focus will include TEA’s corporate strategy and short and long-term planning. As energy trading vice president, he remains responsible for all short and long-term energy marketing and trading, including delivery of risk management services. The Energy Authority provides public power energy trading and risk management.

• The City issued building permits for Auld & White Constructors Inc. to renovate the McDonald’s at 13217 Atlantic Blvd., near Queen’s Harbour Yacht and Country Club, at a project cost of $396,000; Adams Interior Contractors Inc. will build out space for ECT at the Summit at Southpoint at 6440 Southpoint Parkway, No. 130, at a project cost of $119,601; Ed Alphonse Construction Inc. will make alterations and repairs for Brooks Rehabilitation at 12889 Bartram Park Blvd.; Tillman Building Service will handle a roofing project at 1624 Edgewood Ave. W. for Star Meats & Produce at a cost of $58,000; David Merritt Construction Co. Inc. will handle a reroofing project for Marker 32 at 14549 Beach Blvd. at a project cost of $11,000.

• The University of North Florida has been named to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance’s list of 100 best values in public colleges for 2011-12.
