• McGuireWoods LLP has promoted 14 attorneys to partnership level, effective Jan. 1, in nine offices and 12 practice areas. The Jacksonville promotion is Daniel Blanks in the area of restructuring and insolvency. He focuses on bankruptcy, financial restructuring, distressed asset acquisitions, creditors’ rights, commercial workouts and commercial litigation.
• The Jacksonville plant for Goodrich Corp., Engineered Polymer Products, won the “Manufacturer of the Year” award from the Manufacturers Association of Florida for a manufacturer employing 61-125 employees. The Goodrich Jacksonville facility designs, tests and manufactures composite structures that are installed in ships, submarines and aircraft.
• In the first Florida WARN notice of the year, Outotec, at 6100 Philips Highway in Jacksonville, notified the state Friday that it will lay off 58 professional, scientific and technical services jobs from April 30 through July 31.
• Gov. Rick Scott has reappointed former mayoral candidate Mike Hogan as chairman of the state Public Employees Relations Commission. Hogan has been serving on the commission since July and previously served as the Duval County Tax Collector from 2003-11, as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2000-03 and as a City Council member from 1991-99. Hogan worked for AT&T for 25 years as a human resources specialist and labor relations manager. His new commission term began Jan. 2 and ends Jan. 1, 2016.
