Daily Record readers strongly agreed on many responses in the second-quarter series of our Weekly Poll, especially when it came to term limits.

Asked whether elected officials should be subject to term limits, 87 percent of readers responding said yes, while 13 percent said no.

Readers responded to the 13 Weekly Poll questions from April through June. While results are not scientific, they do reflect the opinions of Daily Record readers who take part in the surveys.

In another election-related question, readers were asked in the week starting April 23 who they would vote for if the presidential election was held that day.

Just over half, at 51 percent, of those responding said they would vote for Republican Mitt Romney.

President Barack Obama, a Democrat, won 39 percent of the vote, while 6 percent of readers said they were undecided and 4 percent said they would support an “other” candidate.

The Daily Record posed several questions regarding laws and the legal field.

Asked April 2 about Florida’s “stand your ground” law, 61 percent of readers responding said it should be left alone, while 22 percent said it should be changed and 17 percent said it should be repealed.

Asked the next week whether readers held a concealed weapon license, 63 percent said they did not and 37 percent said they did.

Asked the week starting May 21, two-thirds, or 66 percent, of readers responding said they opposed anti-discrimination laws based on sexual identity while 34 percent said they supported the laws.

The Daily Record asked two questions about jury trials.

Regarding whether readers had ever been a plaintiff, defendant or witness in a jury trial, 77 percent of those responding said no, while 23 percent said they had.

Responses narrowed slightly when asked about serving on a jury. While 63 percent had never served on a jury, 37 percent had.

Meanwhile, a strong majority of readers said they had never attended a protest. While 22 percent said they had, 78 percent said they had not.

Also, 56 percent of readers responding said they had a will, and 44 percent said they did not.

Asked just after hurricane season began June 1, most readers, at 76 percent, said they had not ever filed an insurance claim due to storm damage, while 24 percent said they had.

As communications methods continue to evolve, 57 percent of Daily Record readers said they prefer communicating through email rather than phone calls, while 43 percent prefer the telephone.

The question gaining the strongest negative response was “have you ever had elective cosmetic surgery?”

A dominating 89 percent of readers, almost 9 in 10, said they had not, while 11 percent, or 1 in 10, said they had.

The final question of the quarter asked whether readers had ever bought any Disney merchandise.

More than three out of four readers responding, or 76 percent, said they had, while 24 percent said they had not.

This week’s question asks: “Do you understand how the Affordable Care Act will affect you?”
