Parents with children from 6 months to 5 years of age are invited to bring their future readers to Chamblin’s Uptown at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday.

Store manager Jennifer O’Donnell debuted the weekly one-hour “Kids Reading Club” this week.

“We pick out three or more books each week and I read them to the kids,” said O’Donnell.

Parents can hear the stories too or they may shop in the store or visit the café during story time. Children’s books are discounted an additional 10 percent for parents of participants, she said.

O’Donnell said a few volunteer readers, retired public schoolteachers, have signed up for the program.
